Idaho Republican Party Presidential Caucus 2024

Who?
If you are a Republican and have registered as such before December 31, 2023 or if you are a Republican that has turned 18 between December 31st, 2023 and March 2nd, 2024, then we are talking about YOU.
What?
A Republican Caucus to decide which Presidential candidate will receive Idaho’s delegates at the GOP Convention in 2024.  Note: The May Primary is still going to happen.  It is for State and Local Candidates.  This Caucus is ONLY for the Presidential candidates.
When?
MARCH 2nd, 2024 – From 11:00PST/12:00MST to 12:30PM PST/1:30 MST
Where?
For all Boundary County Precincts, the Caucus location will be the Bonners Ferry Middle School, at 6577 Main Street, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805.  You must show up in person.  There will be no absentee or early voting.
Why?
The Secretary of State, the Legislature, and the Governor passed a bill last session that eliminated the Presidential Primary.  The intent was to eliminate the March election and move the Presidential Primary into May.  However, the March election was eliminated but there was no provision in the bill to actually move the Presidential Primary into the May election.  So, the Idaho Republican Party had to arrange another method to decide where our delegate will go.
How?
You should expect to receive a post card from the Idaho Republican Party that will tell you where to go to vote and what your precinct is.  Bring that card to the caucus location.  If you don’t get a card, or you forget it, don’t worry.  We can look it up for you, or you can look it up yourself on VoteIdaho.gov When you arrive, you will be asked for your card.  If you don’t have it, you will be asked if you know your precinct.  If you do, then you’ll be directed to the poll book sign in table according to your precinct.  If you don’t know and don’t have your card, you’ll be directed to someone who can look it up for you.  You will NEED a VALID government or tribal PHOTO ID card.  You will NOT be allowed into the Caucus without it. When you sign the poll book, you will get a hand stamp.  Do NOT wash it off.  If you leave and go to the bathroom and come back with it washed off, you won’t be allowed back in without the stamp.  After your hand is stamped, you can enter the caucus area and mingle with other members of our community until the ceremony begins.  If you have turned 18 between December 31st, 2023 and March 2nd, 2024, you will be required to sign an affidavit certifying that you are 18 and registered as a Republican. At approximately 12:00 PST/1:00 MST, the ceremony will begin.  We will have an invocation and pledge and will show the ballot box to be empty.  The Caucus Captain will announce the key players.  Then the candidate videos will be shown.  After that, you will be directed to start lining up to get a ballot.  When, you get your ballot, you will receive another hand stamp that will indicate you have received a ballot and it will be over the top of the previous stamp.  You can then take your ballot to the voting booth and vote.  You then take your ballot and place it in the ballot box.  If you make an error on your ballot, you may get back in line with your ballot to have it spoiled and get another one. After you’ve put your ballot in the ballot box, you are welcome to either stay and watch the count, or simply leave. After the voting is complete, the tabulation will begin immediately.  Ballots will be sorted by candidate and then tabulated by three tabulators.  The count must come out the same twice in a row before the count will be accepted.  Once that happens, the result will be announced to all who are present and the result will be transmitted to the State GOP Headquarters along two separate paths.  The Caucus Captain will send the ballots and tabulation sheets back to the State for final verification, and the Caucus Coordinator will also transmit results. If any candidate receives more than 50% of the vote statewide, they will get ALL of the delegates.  If no one receives 50% of the vote, the delegates will be divided according to the percent received for all those receiving more than 15%.
